The Devil Is Always Busy written by Musicman1959Daily©
My cellphone rang and immediately my intuition told me not to answer it.
For some reason I had a bad feeling about this phone call.
Even though I had not even looked at my cellphone’s screen.
Ignoring the voice of reason I answered the call.
It was from a woman whom I considered a dear friend of mine.
We had known each other for over twenty years.
She asked me if I could loan her fifty dollars to get food for her children.
Apparently her kids father idea of feeding them was McDonald’s.
She said he would get an attitude whenever she called him to ask for grocery money.
So I told her to come pick me up.
Once I was in the car she drove to Save A Lot.
In the store I walked along with her as she picked out food.
At the checkout counter I paid for the groceries.
The total cost was over one hundred dollars.
After the groceries were bagged up we left the store.
Once the groceries were put in the trunk we got in the car.
As she drove me home she talked about paying me back for the groceries.
I told her to forget about it and that she didn’t have to pay me back.
Once we arrived at my place I got out of her car and told her to take care.
Time went on and one day I thought about her.
So I called her cellphone number.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that she had blocked my number.
I thought we were long time friends.
So I hung up my cellphone and never tried to call her again.
Then one evening I received a friend request from her on Facebook.
I thought to myself she must be out of her cotton picking mind.
After refusing her request I closed my Facebook account permanently and removed the app from my cellphone.
Her and other people like her who I have also known for over twenty years have burned their bridges with me.
None of these bridges can or will ever be rebuilt.
I see them for the haters that they all are.
They are not my friends and they are not my family.
I think back to some sayings that my dear departed mother would often say to me.
“I pay the cost to be the boss.”
“Sometimes you have to use your head for more than a hat rack.”
“Never fold someone up in your bosom.”
“Sooner or later the truth will come to the light.”
“People will take kindness for weakness.”
“A person will lie before a cat can lick it’s ass.”
“The devil is always busy.”
